Support Your Community

Limited volunteer opportunities for adults 18+ may be available.

Library Mission

We enrich Hinsdaleans’ lives with opportunities to learn, engage, discover and connect.

Ever wonder how you can support the Library?  There are several ways that you may contribute.

Donations

Donations and gifts are always welcomed to supplement the Library’s budget. Your donation is an investment in the community which will be used to enhance the Library’s collections and services.  Financial donations can be made directly to the Hinsdale Public Library.  Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Please make checks payable to Hinsdale Public Library.

Mail to: Hinsdale Public Library

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Hinsdale Public Library contribute to the Library’s programs, services and materials through membership and community events. In recent years, the Friends have funded many programs, renovation projects, and new technologies. We invite you to join the Friends and learn more here.

Memorial Donations

Memorial and Honorarium books are ways to remember someone special and they also support the Library.  These books may be in memory of a deceased loved one, or they may celebrate a special event such as the birth of a child, a birthday, or an anniversary. Your donation is used to purchase such a book that then becomes a part of the Library’s collection.  The book will bear a specialized bookplate memorializing or honoring the person you choose. To request a memorial, please complete the Materials Donation Form and return it to the Checkout Desk.

Volunteering

Grades 6-12: The Youth and Young Adult Services Department has volunteer opportunities to assist with programs and many other ways to assist staff and patrons. Teens grades 6-12 may sign up for volunteer opportunities using our Event Calendar. Follow the link and search for events titled “Volunteer.” Tasks may include program help, craft preparation, toy cleaning, etc. Sign up for the day and time slot that works for you. Contact the Teen Volunteer Coordinator at jsusina@hinsdalelibrary.info with any questions. The Library’s Junior Advisory Board has completed their application process. Learn more here.

Adult Volunteers: The Library has occasional needs throughout the year for volunteers to help with special events, book sale items, Doorstep Delivery, and other tasks. If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please fill out a volunteer application form or email volunteer@hinsdalelibrary.info.

Community Service Volunteers: Under certain conditions, the Library accepts adult volunteers who are required to complete community service hours by the local court system. If you have community service hours to complete or have questions, please fill out a volunteer application form or email volunteer@hinsdalelibrary.info.
