Family
History
Yearbooks
The library does not own any high school yearbooks. The Hinsdale Historical Society has Hinsdale high school yearbooks from 1946 to 1977 and has an alumni directory for 1996..
Obituaries
or Death Notices
We will search the Hinsdale Doings for two weeks after the
date of death. Please be sure to include the full name of
the deceased person and the date of death. More involved historical
questions may be referred to the Hinsdale
Historical Society.
Assistance
with Genealogy Research
An experienced genealogist generously volunteers her time
to help people who are researching their family history, or
would like to start. Contact
the Reference Desk or check the library’s forthcoming
events to find out whether
any sessions are scheduled.
Hinsdale residents can access the Heritage Quest database from home with their Hinsdale library card. Anyone can use Ancestry Library Edition in the library (publisher restrictions do not allow remote access).
Borrowing
U.S. Census Microfilm
Many kinds of records of interest to family history researchers
have been microfilmed. These include the federal censuses
of population from 1790 through 1930 and censuses of other
kinds. Reference librarians will borrow microfilm on interlibrary
loan for Hinsdale cardholders. Ask
a reference librarian for assistance.
