Graphic Novels

Graphic novels for kids are making a come-back, big time. They’re lauded for appealing to multiple intelligences at once, bringing art and words together, and capturing the imagination of young readers. Our collection includes stories about superheroes, science fiction adventures, re-imagined classics like Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew, original works and Manga (popular Japanese style). The Library houses collections in the youth, teen and adult departments. Also, each department’s nonfiction collections contain comic strip collections, such as Calvin and Hobbes (J/741.5/WAT) and history titles, such as Gettysburg Graphic (J/973.7349/BUT).
Here are some of our favorites from the youth Graphic Novel collection.
