Library Closings

The Library will be closed on Saturday, July 4. No materials are due this day. (Regular hours on July 3 and 5.)

Help Us Plan the Future!

Every three years the Hinsdale Public Library surveys the community to help ensure that we continue to deliver what the community needs.

Tell us what matters the most to you and your family! Please take a brief survey about Library services. The survey closes July 5.

Participants will be entered in a drawing for a $100 gift card from Whole Foods Market.

Summer Reading Club

Readers of all ages, pick up a reading log to keep track of your reading this summer! Kids and teens, keep track of the days you spend reading. Each day that you check in at the Library, you will spin the prize wheel! Adults, keep track of your reading on the log or through our social media pages. This year’s grand prize is a Wine & Cheese Tasting Party for 10 people at The Village Cellar! Parents, reading to your kids counts, too, so don’t forget to pick up a reading log for yourself.

The Story of a Sculpture by Patricia Potokar

Every artist develops a series of steps that helps the creative process evolve. These steps are not linear; they are cylindrical. As a photographer, teacher, and artist, Pat Potokar saw the opportunity to document Barbara Cooper’s work as she created a commissioned sculpture for the Library. Wrapping her head around the context and history of Hinsdale, Cooper began the creative process in her Chicago studio. Witness Cooper’s journey documented in Potokar’s photographs.

Pat Potokar has taught photography, video and design at Hinsdale Central and Hinsdale South High Schools for eighteen years. Potokar holds a BA from the University of Illinois at Chicago in Photography and Graphic Design, and advanced degrees in Education from Dominican University, Educational Leadership from Benedictine University, and Art Education from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

The exhibit, located in the Quiet Reading Room, is free and open to the public during regular Library hours.
